The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board central office and schools are pleased to be participating in Earth Hour again this year. On Friday, March 27, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Earth Hour will be observed with a system-wide “power down”, which will see lights and power minimized as much as possible. In addition to this, staff has been encouraged to:
• Minimize waste
• Organize a car pool to work or take public transit
• Go paperless when possible
• Minimize photocopying (practice two-sided copying)
• Pack a lunch and snacks in containers, not plastic bags
• Reuse old water/juice bottles
• Forego the coffee shop (and its paper cups); prepare coffee at work and use glass mugs
Individual Earth Hour activities are taking place in the
following schools on March 27:
John XXIII – Earth Hour Poster Contest.
Mother St. Bride - Litterless Lunch Day, educating students on the “3 Rs” (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
Our Lady of Fatima – Learning activities will be focused on environmental topics, “Power Down” will include computers.
Our Lady of Sorrows - No waste in the classroom.

Sacred Heart – Honouring the student volunteers of the school’s Recycling Program, photo display, Litterless Lunch Day, Earth Hour classroom discussions
