Future of downtown landmark in question

This year St Andrew’s United Church will be celebrating 125 years of being a part of North Bay.

This year St Andrew’s United Church will be celebrating 125 years of being a part of North Bay. However, the future of the well known downtown landmark is in question as major structural repairs will be required in the near future to reinforce the building’s buttress roof supports. About a year ago structural engineers confirmed approximately $250,000 worth of work will be needed. As a result, St Andrew’s is now working on a major fundraising campaign to raise the necessary funds.

Rev. Jane Howe commented, “This is an intimidating amount for any public group to try and raise for building repairs but we are fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers helping on the committee. We believe that by letting others know what we are doing, and with a lot of hard work, our goals can always be reached.”

In addition to approaching both current and historical members of St Andrew’s, The Church is also planning a fundraising dinner at the Clarion Pinewood Resort on Friday, May 22.

Tickets are $100 per person, including a $60 charitable tax receipt. The dinner will feature a live and silent auction for a number of great community donations. For tickets or to help with an auction item please contact Stuart Bailey 474 3338, or email [email protected].
