Vehicle stop leads to drug charges

Mattawa - On the 23rd of March 2009, members of the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section, assisted by the OPP Canine Unit, conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 17 east of Mattawa. As a result, a quantity of Cannabis marihuana with a potential street value of over $7000.00 was seized. One (1) person was arrested and charged.

Charged:

1. Richard BALL (age 49 yrs) of St. Luc, PQ.

• Trafficking a Controlled Substance contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act – Cannabis marihuana.

Held for bail hearing at Ontario Court of Justice, North Bay, on March 24th 2009.
