News Release

Where: West Ferris Secondary School 60 Marshall Park Drive

Who: Environmental Club

What: Eco-Olympics

When: Thursday, March 26th, 2009 from 12:20-1pm

Why: West Ferris is proud of their school colour: green.

The average secondary school produces 22kg of waste per pupil each academic year but West Ferris has pledged to reduce their footprint.

Starting Thursday, March 26th the Trojans are kick starting their recycling program with a bang. Students will now be able to recycle paper, cans and water bottles and what better way to introduce it than with an Eco-Olympics. During lunch there will be a variety of games that West Ferris Trojans can participate in from toss the water bottle to pin the can on the recycling box. Students will also be encouraged to purchase the new Trojan logo metal water bottles to ultimately get rid of the plastic version forever. It is a fun but educational way to get the environmental message across.
