Toronto - Following a meeting of the Ontario PC Party Executive, Party President Ken Zeise today announced that Party members will vote to select a new Leader on Sunday, June 21, 2009. The results of the voting will be announced at a convention in Markham on June 27, 2009.

The announcement follows the resignation of outgoing PC Leader John Tory, who resigned on March 6, 2009. Veteran MPP Bob Runciman was elected Interim Leader on March 20, 2009 and will serve until a new Leader is elected.

"On behalf of the PC Party we would like thank John for his years of service, dedication and hard work," said Zeise.

Zeise also confirmed he will lead the Leadership Steering Committee that has been struck to ensure a smooth and fair process.

Important dates in the Leadership process include the closing of nominations for Leader at 12:00 noon on April 17, 2009. Only Party members in good standing as of 10:00 pm on Thursday, May 14, 2009 will be eligible to vote for the new Leader.

"This is an exciting time of renewal for our Party," said Zeise. "People are engaged in the process and are looking forward to working with the new Leader to defeat Dalton McGuinty in 2011."
