Almaguin Highlands - On the 19th of March 2009, members of the Almaguin Highlands OPP Detachment, the North East Region Crime Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section out of North Bay executed a search warrant for marihuana at a Township of Strong residence.
As a result of the warrant, a large quantity of marihuana in varied growing stages was seized, along with a quantity of production equipment. The value of the marihuana is approximately $84,000.
Jean Raymond Beckingham, 60 years of age, and Pamela Fortner, 45 years of age, have been charged with Production of Marihuana and Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking. Both offences are contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act of Canada.
Both accused have been released from custody and are to appear in court in Sundridge, Ont on the 28th of April 2009.
