Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, appointed Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Donald Gordon Marshall, member of 22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay, to the Order of Military Merit during an investiture ceremony at Rideau Hall, on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

Among 50 members of the Canadian regular and reserve forces to receive the insignia, MWO Marshall will be invested with the level of Member being recognized for his exceptional service and performance of duty.

MWO Marshall, the Squadron Warrant Officer for 51 Aerospace Control & Warning (Operational Training) Squadron, and a 26-year member of the Canadian Forces, is a natural leader who works tirelessly to improve operational services to the flying community, and is a highly sought-after trainer. Always looking to improve the lives of his fellow citizens, MWO Marshall is a long supporter of cancer research raising more than $500k.

The Order of Military Merit was created in 1972 to recognize meritorious service and devotion to duty by members of the Canadian Forces. The Order has three levels of membership: Commander (C.M.M.), Officer (O.M.M.) and Member (M.M.M.). The ceremony includes the appointment of three commanders, 16 officers and 31 members.
