Students in Mme Melanie’s Senior Kindergarten class at Pinewood Public School were kept busy on Monday, as they celebrated 100 days of school. All the children donned homemade hats, made posters and created necklaces with 100 fruit loops.

Last week, the SK class asked fellow Pinewood students to help their class bring food donations for the North Bay Food Bank in honour of 100 Day. Their goal was to collect 100 food items. Literacy and numeracy activities were incorporated into the day as the students counted and graphed the food which was placed on the SK learning carpet. Teacher Melanie Jaskula was pleased to report that the school did in fact collect 100 food donations.

The children were very excited to bring in collections of 100 things, such as pennies, jujubes, buttons and toothpicks. They made lists of 100 French words, 100 friends’ names and discovered different ways to count to 100.

After such a focused day, the kids and Mme Melanie are sure to be dreaming of 100s tonight !
