Parents and members of the Near North community will soon have a chance to participate in a number of interactive workshops, where they can discover simple strategies to stimulate learning at home, learn about assistive technologies and hear about emerging topics in Special Education.

Together, the Near North District School Board, in coordination with its Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), will be hosting a Special Education Symposium on April 25, 2009 at two locations: Chippewa Secondary School and Parry Sound High School.

“The Near North District School Board is committed to providing a range of supports and resources to the parents of our Special Education students,” said Kelly Brown, Superintendent of Program and Schools. “This symposium will help us to further enhance the links between our community partners, parents and the Near North educational community.”

Interested participants are asked to register, by April 14, 2009, online at www.nearnorthschools.ca or by picking up a registration form at any Near North school. The deadline for registration is April 14th.

The Near North District School Board and its Special Education Advisory Committee are committed to a philosophy of integration, while providing a range of options to meet the needs of all exceptional students in the district.
