City eyes partnership with Canadore

The City is looking to finalize a partnership with Canadore College’s skills trade programs. The original plan was to see students given projects to do in the community without assistance from professional developers, which would be a cost saving measure for the city as professional developers would be used far less.

Councillor Dave Mendecino says that the written partnership will now pair the students with developers and together they will do projects so the students still get hands on experience.

“Our main concern is the developers. We didn’t want to take business away from the developers especially if the economy worsens,” Mendecino said.

He added that there is no financial savings for the city; this partnership is strictly for the benefit of the students and the developers.

“I’m hoping to see the partnership comes forward,” Mendecino said.
