The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority's (NBMCA) Board of Directors has re-elected Marc Charron to serve a sixth consecutive term as Chairman of the NBMCA. As Chairman, Charron will be responsible for leading the NBMCA's Board of Directors and the Finance and Administration Advisory Board for the duration of 2009. Dave Mendicino will also reprise his role in 2009 as Vice-Chairman of the NBMCA.

"The experience and strength of the NBMCA's Board of Directors will be a definite asset as we navigate the year ahead," comments Brian Tayler, General Manager of the NBMCA. "With a new five-year strategic plan in place, the NBMCA will continue to provide quality watershed based programs and service that strive to meet the needs of the watershed and its residents."

Charron joined the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority's Board of Directors in 2004 as a citizen appointment by the City of North Bay. The remaining members of the Board of Directors are representatives of the NBMCA's 10 member municipalities. Cecil Reid (Chisholm) was re-elected as Chairman of the Land Conservation and Recreation Management Advisory Board. Heather Busch (Callander) was re-elected as the Chairman of the Water & Related Land Management Advisory Board with Dan Corbeil (East Ferris) re-elected to the role of Vice-Chairman. The two advisory boards act as an advisory and public appeal board for any regulatory decisions made by the NBMCA. In addition, the six members of the Finance and Administration Advisory Board are historically comprised of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of each Advisory Board and the Board of Directors.

Heather Busch (Callander), Cecil Reid (Chisholm) and Yvon Foisy (Bonfield) were elected to the board of Directors of the Foster Wild Environmental Fund.

The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority was founded in 1972 by the Province of Ontario and its 10 member municipalities. A non-profit organisation, the NBMCA works closely with the public to ensure the environmental health of the region's watershed. The NBMCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities who are members of Conservation Ontario.
