Police caution publlic to lock doors at all times

Mattawa – Between, January 20th and January 21st, 2009, Mattawa officers responded to four daytime break, enters and thefts. These incidents occurred in the area of Brydges Street and one on Ottawa Street in the town of Mattawa.

The culprit is believed to have entered a residence while the owner was asleep in the living room. The bedrooms had been rummaged through where money and medication were taken. In a separate incident, the homeowner surprised the thief, a lone male. The male quickly left running. Money had been taken from the residence.

While in the other two incidents, both homeowners reported someone having entered their residence. It is yet unknown if anything was taken.

Police are cautioning the public to be vigilant and ensure your doors and windows are LOCKED at all times. Prevention is often your best protection!
