Le Centre culturel Les Compagnons des francs loisirs anticipates its 46th annual Le Carnaval, which will be held from February 6 to 15, to be its greatest yet.

Many activities are planned for this fun filled week. Opening ceremonies will be held on Sunday, February 8 at 1:30 pm at Memorial Gardens. Le Carnaval’s King and Queen will be unveiled during the opening ceremonies. There will be games for the kids as well as family skating. A Book Festival will also be held in the Memorial Gardens foyer.

Other activities during the week include concerts of all sorts, including French renowned group SWING on Thursday February 12th, games night, pancake breakfasts and traditional suppers.

Honorary President for this year’s Le Carnaval is MP Anthony Rota. He will preside a carnavall which has as primary objective to gather the francophone community of the Nipissing Region, especially the younger generations. To do so, Le Carnaval will use technological methods like a promotional video and Facebook to attract young Franco-Ontarians.

Carnaval buttons can be purchased for 2$ at the Centre culturel Les Compagnons des francs loisirs and at the Caisse Populaire of North Bay. Raffle tickets can also be purchased.

Le Carnaval has become, with its cultural and social repercussions, an important event for the entire community.
