Business Centre's program can help new entrepreneurs

The Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound Inc. is administering a program designed to assist new business owners overcome some of the challenges associated with operating a business. In an attempt to serve the needs of these aspiring individuals a diverse group of established business owners have been selected to represent the program as mentors.

The mentor will teach missing skills, impart specialized knowledge and expertise and ultimately provide a forum for feedback and communication. With this support, the business owner gains an increased level of self-confidence and learns new perspectives about how to overcome barriers and obstacles. Often, all a new business owner needs is the confidence that can be found by talking with someone who has already traveled a similar path and the mentorship program provides this opportunity.

Unlike conventional methods of mentoring, each participant will be challenged using a variety of techniques in order to generate new ideas. Participants will also have an opportunity to network with one another with the intention of building long lasting relationships that provide ongoing peer support.

Through peer-to-peer learning, mentors will provide experience based knowledge that allows the mentees to avoid time consuming obstacles. In addition to the support and guidance provided through this excellent initiative funding may be made available to those qualified individuals who can demonstrate a viable business opportunity.
