Kapuskasing - Direction Ontario’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce Donald Obonsawin, currently Chair of the organization, as its new President-Executive Director. The appointment of Mr. Obonsawin as President-Executive Director of Direction Ontario is effective immediately.

This nomination follows the departure of Mrs. Nicole Guertin, founder and Executive Director of the Francophone tourism organization since 2001. Mrs. Guertin is getting ready to face new challenges in western Canada.

Donald Obonsawin joined Direction Ontario’s Board of Directors in 2007 and was titled as Chair of the organization. He is not new to the economic and tourism development scenes, since he has been working in the field since the 1970s. He was Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Tourism of Ontario as well as in seven other ministries of Ontario; and finally, Executive Officer and President of Jonview Canada, Canada’s leading receptive tour operator.

“I am delighted to accept the Board’s invitation in this transition period for Direction Ontario”, said Mr. Obonsawin. “Mrs. Guertin has accomplished a lot during the last 8 years as head leader of the organization. Direction
Ontario must continue to position itself in the tourism industry as well as develop essential partnerships in order to meet its objectives.”

Of his new title as President- Executive Director of Direction Ontario, Donald Obonsawin will be assuring the organization’s good development as well as overtaking many tasks related to the job of Mrs. Guertin.
