North Bay - The following are the final Festive R.I.D.E. local statistics for the North Bay OPP officers in the area. This important initiative commenced on Friday, November 28th, 2008 and ran Friday, January 2nd, 2009.

o Number of vehicles checked: 12,874

o Number of persons charged with impaired: 7

o 12 hour suspension: 15

o Total Number of Motor Vehicle Collisions: 104

o Total Collisions Involving Alcohol: 5

o Total Number of Fatal Motor Vehicle Collisions: 1

o Total Number of People Killed: 1

o Total Number of People Injured: 13

The OPP will still be conducting R.I.D.E. throughout the year ensuring reduction in tragedies due to the use of alcohol and getting behind the wheel. So far this year, two anglers have been charged with impaired operation of their vehicle and two others were served with a 12-hour suspension.

Impaired operation of any type of motor vehicle - including that of a snow machine or an ATV – is a crime!

Avoid a tragedy – Please Don’t Drink and Drive.
