Speed was a factor in fatal snowmobile crash

East Ferris Township – On January 1st, 2009, North Bay OPP officers responded to a snowmobile collision on Lake Nosbonsing in East Ferris Township, Ontario. The collision occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. and is being investigated by North Bay OPP with the assistance of Technical Traffic Collision Investigators, members of the S.A.V.E. Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit as well as East Ferris Volunteer Fire Department.

Three men were out on Lake Nosbonsing heading for the trails when one of them lost control of his machine while passing one of the men. The 1995 Mach Z Skidoo entered into a marsh and became air borne.

The men provided assistance by getting help nearby from a local firefighter where CPR was performed until the arrival of Air and Land Ambulance. Eddy T. PUCKO, 44 years old of Lowbanks, Ontario was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem was conducted this morning, January 2nd, 2009, at the North Bay General Hospital where natural causes were ruled out. Speed is believed to be a factor in this collision.
