The North Bay General Hospital is asking members of the community not to come to the hospital if they, or anyone in their family, have the flu or any flu-like symptoms.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says there have been cases of influenza throughout the district, and hospital officials confirm there have been patients with influenza in the Emergency Department.

In response to the increase in activity both in the community and in the Emergency Department, the Hospital will be limiting the number of visitors permitted to accompany patients into the Department.

While there are no other visitor restrictions at this time, the public is asked to help protect our patients and staff by not coming to the hospital if they, or anyone in their family, have the flu or have experienced flu-like symptoms.

The hospital still encourages everyone to be vaccinated with the flu shot. Visitors are reminded to wash their hands with the alcohol rinse provided in each lobby before entering and leaving the facility. Influenza is easily transmitted and can greatly affect patients and the staff providing care.
