Phone tip leads to impaired charges

On December 22nd, 2008, at approximately 7:20 p.m., an Ontario Provincial Police officer responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver travelling northbound on Highway 11 in the city of North Bay, Ontario.

The OPP officer located the vehicle on Drury Lane in the city of North Bay. Initial investigation revealed the driver to be impaired as well as in possession of a stolen vehicle from Mississauga, Ontario.

Charged is Ryan Daniel BURNS, 20 years old, of no fixed address with:

• Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer, s. 129(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000, s. 355 (a) CC;

• Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, s. 354(1)(a) CC;

• Possession Break in Instruments, s. 351(1) CC;

• Impaired Operation / Motor Vehicle / Drug, s. 253(1)(a) CC; and

• Fail to Comply with Undertaking or Recognizance (3 counts), s. 145(3) CC.

BURNS is being held for bail hearing on Wednesday, December 24th, 2008 at the North Bay Court in North Bay, Ontario.
