The lobby of La Caisse populaire de Mattawa Limitée has a very special Christmas tree. The tree is constructed of 422 cans, 27 boxes of pasta and 30 loaves of bread. These non-perishable food items will be donated to the Mattawa and Area Food Bank.

Vicky Wilson spearheaded this community project. " I saw a similar project in Vancouver and thought that it would be a good idea to do this in our community," she said. "It's been a rough year for many and the food bank will be needed more than ever.

This is the second year that La Caisse populaire de Mattawa Limitée and staff have donated their time and money to build a food tree. " Last year the Mattawa and Area Food Bank was so appreciative that we wanted to make it bigger every year," she said.

Next year, La Caisse populaire de Mattawa Limitée and staff want to build an even bigger tree with the help of the entire community.
