City to explore Oil Sands

North Bay has teamed up with Timmins, Sudbury, and the Sault along with Fednor as active participants in the Ontario Economic Development Coporation.

The city will contribute $6,000 per year over the next three years to support to have a consultant in Edmonton. Councillor Dave Medecino said that this partnership will be an asset to North Bay’s economy.

“We need a presence there,” Medecinio said.

He added that with the booming economy in Alberta that infrastructure is suffering and North Bay can take some of that load. He explained that the consultant would see what Alberta needs and match that up with a business in North Bay.

“We need to start looking outward,” he added.
