A complex winter storm is approaching northeastern Ontario. This storm is made of an Alberta clipper located over central Indiana late today joined by a strong trough to a low which is moving up the eastern seaboard of the United States of America.

Snow from this storm will move quickly in tonight and continue well into Monday as the clipper moves across southern Ontario to near Renfrew by Monday evening. Total snowfall amounts will reach 25 centimetres in many areas.

In addition strong east to northeast winds are expected to whip up freshly fallen snow at times resulting in near zero visibility in local whiteout conditions from blowing snow especially in exposed areas.

Winter driving conditions will quickly deteriorate tonight and become dangerous due to low to at times nil visibility in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travellers should exercise extreme caution and alter plans accordingly.
