The Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord is pleased to
announce that an agreement covering a four-year period has been reached with all unions representing its employees: local 2799 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE)representing the custodial and maintenance staff, CUPE local 1165 representing secretaries and audiovisual technicians in secondary schools and the Association des enseignantes et des enseignants franco-ontariens (AEFO) representing regular teachers, supply teachers, and education support workers.

In reaching a deal before November 30th this year, the Board has met the Ministry of Education’s deadline and thereby qualifies for funding for the improvement of working conditions for employees of the school board.

"I want to congratulate and thank all those who participated at the various negotiating tables. The entire process was conducted in a positive atmosphere," declared Cynthia Roveda, Director of Education of the Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord. "I am pleased that students will be able to benefit from the stable labour relations established for the next four years," she added.

The Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord has 17 French-language Catholic schools, 14 elementary and 3 secondary. Over 3,300 students attend a CSCFN school, covering the area including the municipalities of Thorne, Mattawa, Astorville, Bonfield, North Bay and West Nipissing.
