Snow tapering off this morning.

The heavy snow associated with an intense low pressure system over central Québec will taper off later this morning. Whitney and North Bay have recorded 14 and 6 centimetres of snowfall respectively as of 4 AM.

Brisk northerly winds have also been producing local blowing and drifting snow. The winds will weaken this afternoon as the low pressure system continues to drift towards Labrador.

An intensifying low pressure system over eastern Ontario will track into Québec overnight.

Snow has spread across the North Bay region. 15 centimetres of heavy wet snow are likely in southeastern portions of the region..Including Mattawa..Eau claire and Smith's landing. The city of North Bay will likely see snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 centimetres.

Brisk northerly winds will also give some drifting snow. The snow will taper off Sunday morning. Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details.

A major low pressure system developing over West Virginia this morning will strengthen and track rapidly northward reaching northern New York state by this evening.

Snow is expected to begin in the North Bay region late this afternoon but there remains some uncertainty regarding the location of the heavy snow axis. 10 to 15 centimetres of heavy wet snow are very likely in southeastern portions of the region..Including Mattawa..Eau claire and Smith's landing. The city of North Bay will likely see snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 centimetres.

The snow will begin to taper off Sunday morning.
