Vehicle seized under street racing legislation

A Mattawa OPP officer seized a vehicle yesterday evening on John Street in Mattawa as a result of the Street Racing Legislation.

On November 12th, 2008, at approximately 9:20 pm, the officer was conducting stationary radar on John Street / Highway 17 in the town of Mattawa when he observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was travelling in excess of 60 km/h over the posted speed limit.

As a result of his actions, Andrews R. HIGGINS, 19 years old of Carleton Place, Ontario, was charged under the Street Racing Legislation, s.172 and also has a G2 licence holder he was additionally charged with having a blood alcohol content (B.A.C.) above zero. His driver’s licence was seized and suspended for 7 days as well as the vehicle was towed and also seized for 7 days.
