November 10th was a PD Day for area students, and Discovery North Bay Museum hosted a Remembrance themed activity camp. Students created a wreath to be presented at Memorial Park and listened to a presentation from Captain Doug Newman. Captain Newman is an air force officer with over 30 years' service, overseas and across Canada, in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD).

Captain Newman was selected by the Department of National Defence as a Wing Heritage Officer, one of a dozen people handpicked across Canada to teach our country's military history to the Canadian public, and to assist both Canadians and people outside of Canada with questions related to our military history.

The children taking part in the PD Day Camp at Discovery North Bay Museum learned about the meaning of Remembrance Day, and the need to celebrate the courage of our Canadian Veterans. Day camps are offered at the Museum every PD day.
