Blue Sky area communities will soon have a new tool to support municipal planning and help attract new investment.

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is providing $497,606 to the Blue Sky Economic Development Corporation to implement a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) project in partnership with 17 municipalities in the districts of Nipissing and Parry Sound.

The GIS project will convert municipal data, such as zoning and mapping information, into digital format that will be easily accessible by member communities.

“By improving access to important municipal data, this project will help local leaders make better-informed decisions and enhance their economic development strategies,” said Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle, who also chairs the NOHFC.
