Voyageur Days heralded as a resounding success

The Mattawa Voyageur Days Committee is pleased to announce that Voyageur Days 2008 was a resounding success despite the ongoing inclement weather throughout the total weekend. Overall attendance was only down slightly from 2007 when the festival set record attendance.

“The Committee is very pleased with the overall attendance and that the public still came out and supported their festival despite what Mother Nature threw at not only our Region but throughout Ontario” says Jacques Begin Co-Chair. “Our financial year end is not until the end of September annually when we close our books. Therefore exact numbers will not be known until following the audit. However, early indications point to a financially positive year end position for 2008.

Plans have already started for Mattawa Voyageur Days 2009. “In fact, the Committee began plans for the 2009 festival back in May” says Lucie Desrochers Co-Chair. “The Corporation Town of Mattawa will be turning 125 years old in 2009. Activities will commence on January 1 and run throughout the calendar year celebrating this very special anniversary”.

Mattawa Voyageur Days will take place July 22-26, 2009. Mark these dates on your calendar and plan to take in these and all the activities during Mattawa’s 125th birthday.
