It wasn’t a large fire but damages for a house fire on Jane Street Thursday night are quickly approaching the $100,000 mark.

The call came in at 9:11 p.m. and Fire Prevention Officer Randy Vezina says response time was three minutes.

“When they arrived on scene they noted that the fire had vented itself through a front window on the east side of the building and of course flames and smoke visible,” he explains.

“Firefighters entered at ground level and knocked the fire down in the living room and kept it contained to the one room. However there’s a lot of smoke and flame damage throughout the building and the home is uninhabitable right now.”

Vezina says the family was unable to occupy the home overnight and it may be a several weeks before they can return.

One person was taken to hospital with minor burns.

Electrical Safety Authority will be on seen today for inspection to confirm and rule out findings.
