The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce the results in the EQAO’s grade 3, 6, and 9 testing. The results show that the Board continues to perform above the provincial average in Grade 9 Mathematics, and demonstrate improvements in Grade 3 and 6 writing.

In Grade 9, the Board experienced a 45 per cent achievement result in Applied Mathematics and 79 per cent in Academic Mathematics, scoring above the provincial averages by 11 per cent and four per cent respectively.

Improvements in writing were particularly noteworthy in the 2007-2008 results. In Grade 3, 66 per cent of Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic students performed at or above the provincial average, up 16 per cent from last year. In Grade 6, 63 per cent of our students performed at or above the provincial average, up nine per cent from last year.

“The momentum of improvement will continue to be supported at both the system and school levels,” said Director of Education, Anna Marie Bitonti. “We are pleased with the improvement in results from last year but we will be carefully reviewing the EQAO data for all testing categories in order to effectively direct our energy and resources toward optimal, all-around student achievement, as we are deeply rooted in the belief that all students can achieve. We will continue to intensify our work in literacy and numeracy particularly by expanding leadership, resources and professional development in these priority areas.”
