The 5th Annual Bonfield Women’s Convention 2008 brings local resources and businesses together to create a forum for women of rural areas the opportunity to explore and be informed of services that enhance wellbeing.

Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre of Nipissing welcomes women from near and far to the 5th Annual Bonfield Women’s Convention 2008. The convention will take place Wednesday September 24, 2008 from 9am-3pm at the Parish Hall in Bonfield, Ontario. Through scheduled presentations and information booths, women will have the opportunity to explore all areas of women’s wellness: physical, mental, spiritual and emotional.

The convention will provide information on various aspects of women’s wellness. Guest speakers scheduled throughout the day include:

- Line Dancing

- Greening Nipissing with Erin Kitchen

- Tai Chi Demonstration

- Arthritis, The Invisible Disease with Catherine O’Banion

- Home Depot Demonstration

- Sacred Dance with Kelly Van Raalte

The Bonfield Women’s Convention committee is proud of the fact that the over the past four years, the convention has drawn upwards of 180 women each year from communities such as Mattawa, Sturgeon Falls, Astorville, Callander, Chisolm, Nipissing, North Bay and Bonfield.

All guest speaker sessions will be 30 minutes in length including a question period. The event is FREE of charge and does include refreshments and a light lunch. However, a food bank donation would be appreciated for the Bonfield Food Bank. Free transportation from North Bay to the convention site is available, Women are asked to call in advance to reserve a seat. Women are encouraged to bring a friend, sister, mother, grandma, auntie, neighbor, or someone who has just moved in, as they are sure to enjoy this community collaboration.
