The Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord announces the results of its schools in the 2007-2008 provincial testing for grades 3, 6 and 9.

Elementary Level Results

Staff efforts aimed at reaching the provincial target for 2008 have yielded results. The province had set a goal of at least 75% in reading, writing and mathematics by the end of grade 6. The success rate of grade 6 students at Franco-Nord in 2007-2008 was 75% in reading, 77% in writing and 79% in mathematics. Although grade 3 results were not as good, the Board is confident that it possesses the strategies and resources required so that its pupils in grade 3 will obtain similar or even better results by the end of grade 6.

“Thanks to the commitment of its staff and the involvement of its parents, the Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord is achieving the results specified in its strategic plan. Our first concern is for the well-being and security of our pupils, but we are very conscious of the quality of our product which is learning. We value the success of each of our students and our ultimate goal is a success rate of 100%. Therefore, in spite of our success, we continue to analyze our results in order to identify areas where we can help the student,” declared Raymond Lessard, Director of Education at the CSC Franco-Nord.

Secondary Level Results

The success rate in mathematics for students in the grade 9 academic program at Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord was 65% which is very close to the provincial success rate of 67%. In the applied program, the results showed that 62% of students reached level 2.

“I congratulate the staff and students for their efforts and their successes. The aim of provincial testing is to provide boards and schools with the data required to evaluate their performance and improve their practices. We are confident that this exercise will enable us to help each of our grade 9 students meet the standards set by the province,” concluded Mr. Lessard.
