The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) and Temagami Local Citizens Committee would like to remind the public of the upcoming public information centres for the review of the 2009 – 2019 draft Forest Management Plan for the Temagami Forest.

We are asking the public to review and comment on the draft plan as well as MNR’s list of preliminary changes. The public will have the opportunity to see details about the areas identified for harvest, renewal and tending operations, the nature of those operations and the proposed road locations and conditions for the first five-year term of the plan. They will also be able to see details about where harvest, renewal and tending operations are preferred to occur during the second five-year term of the plan, as well as the proposed one kilometre wide corridors for each new primary and branch road which is planned for construction during the ten-year period of the plan.

The opportunity to review the 2009 -2019 draft Forest Management Plan for the Temagami Forest will occur at the following two information centres:

September 3, 2008
Temagami Arena, Temagami
4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

September 4, 2008
Joe’s Pasta and Steak, New Liskeard
4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Comments on the draft Forest Management Plan for the Temagami Forest must be received by Robert Baker of the planning team at the MNR North Bay Office, by November 3, 2008.
