East Ferris Twp - On Tuesday August 12th 2008, North Bay OPP responded to report of a residential fire at 1252 Quae Quae Road in East Ferris Township.
The home was fully engulfed and the East Ferris Volunteer Fire Department were already on scene battling the blaze when police arrived. There are no injuries sustained by occupants and/or firefighters.
As this fire is suspicious in nature, an investigation was conducted by members of the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ontario Fire Marshall's Office along with the assistance by the East Ferris Fire Department.
OPP North Bay have charged 46 year old Kelly STEPHENS of East Ferris, Ontario in connection with this fire; and, another incident from April of 2008 involving railway ties being set on fire in East Ferris Township.
STEPHENS faces 2 counts of Arson, 1 count of Unlawfully in a Dwelling, and 1 count of Threatening all contrary to the Criminal Code. STEPHENS is currently in custody and will appear in court in North Bay, Ontario on Monday August 18th, 2008.
