Portable mess

Motorist driving along Trout Lake Road near the local jail had to do some manoeuvring in order to get by, that’s because a mobile home crashed in the middle of the intersection of Connaught Avenue.

The accident happened around 2p.m. and no other vehicle was involved in the mishap. It appears the structure slid off the trailer as the driver was negotiating a turn onto Connaught.

One man getting his car fixed at the Shell Garage says it was fortunate it happened when there was little traffic on the road.
“I didn’t have time to see anything, I was talking to the people at the garage because I was bringing my car in and then I heard the noise and I turn around and there it was on the street,” says Bernarbin Gilbert.

No one was injured and the driver of the truck directed traffic until the police arrived. A portion of Trout Lake was closed in order to remove the mobile home. The towing company had to be creative in order to get the home off the road. But after an hour the mess was cleaned up and the road was fully opened.

Many passing motorists took pictures with their mobile home and looked puzzled as to how this could have happened. “Very strange” said one passerby.

There is no word yet, what caused the home to fall off its trailer.
