East Fire Region situation update July 26th as of 9:30am.

• No new fires in the region yesterday

• One Fire Behaviour Specialist assisting in British Columbia

There is one active fire in the East Fire Region. Cochrane 5, a 2.0 hectare lightning fire, is under control.

The forest fire hazard in the East Fire Region is low to moderate.

Under the Forest Fires Prevention Act of Ontario day burning of brush or grass is not allowed. Burning of grass or brush may be done no sooner than two hours before sunset and it must be put it out no later than two hours after sunrise. Choose a safe site, keep your fire small and never leave it unattended. Remember to ensure the fire is put dead out before leaving the site.
