Eight arrested for thefts from vehicles correction

East Ferris Township – The news release {re: Thefts from Vehicles – Several Arrested) dated July 24, 2008 incorrectly stated that an individual had been charged.

Nicholas BEDARD, 18 years old, of North Bay has NOT been charged in relation to the incident.

One young person was charged, not three as indicated in the news release.

The investigation is still ongoing.

East Ferris Township – North Bay OPP and Rural and Agricultural Crime Team (RACT) have arrested several individuals after a rash of theft from vehicles on MacPherson Drive in East Ferris Township.

On June 26th, 2008 between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., following a graduation party on MacPherson Drive, several uninvited guests were involved in thefts from nearby homes and vehicles. Many vehicles were left unlocked and the involved persons removed items such as money, cell phones, digital cameras, iPods, memory sticks, GPS, etc… Over 11 reported victims as a result of this incident.

An extensive investigation resulted in the following persons being charged:

- Nicholas BEDARD, 18 years old;

- Aaron J. KENNEDY, 18 years old;

- Pascal LEFEBVRE, 19 years old;

- Davin O. NORTH, 18 years old;

- Joel SENECAL, 18 years old;

Including 3 young offenders.

They are all from North Bay, Ontario and are facing various charges such as Break, Enter and Theft; Theft under $5,000 and Possession of Stolen Property as per the Criminal Code of Canada. Court is scheduled on August 19, 2008 in North Bay, Ontario.
