Books by the Bay announces a last-minute change in programming for Saturday, July 19.

Writer Karen Connelly, author of the Lizard Cage, has been forced to cancel her appearance on Saturday evening due to personal circumstances.

In her place we are featuring performance poet Sharmagne Leland St John, nominee for the Pushcart Prize, who will read from her works. Sharmagne is a Native American poet, concert performer, lyricist, artist, and film-maker. She is the Editor-in Chief of the poetry e-zine Quill and Parchment.com. She tours North American as a performance poet, either solo, or with her band of poets, “Poetry in Motion”. She has published three books of poetry: Unsung Songs, Silver Tears and Time, and Contingencies. She co-authored a book on film production design: Designing Movies: Portrait of a Hollywood Artist. We are delighted that her visit to North Bay coincides with the festival and that we have been able to include her in our program. Sharmagne will appear briefly on Saturday afternoon during the Native and Northern Aspects, and return for the evening event at the Community Centre.

Rain location: The forecast is positive, but in the event of rain, the activities in the Centennial Waterfront Park will be moved to the Callander Community Centre, on Swale Street.
