TORONTO – Local community hero gets the spotlight. Lynne Benoit was honoured as the BMO Community Hero of the Game during Tuesday’s match between Toronto FC and the CA Independiente at BMO Field.

Lynne volunteers at West Nipissing Soccer where she is the director of registration, convenor of Indoor soccer and coach to a U13 Boys team. Lynne also volunteers with the local Youth Bowling Canada chapter as a program director as well as coach. She is an active member of the local church and school council.

“We applaud Lynne for her commitment to our community. We believe everyday heroes, like Lynne, deserve the spotlight,” said, Nicole Audet, North Bay Branch Manager, BMO Bank of Montreal. “That’s why the BMO Community Hero of the Game program recognizes people who demonstrate dedication and passion through their commitment to their community.”

Lynne appeared on the jumbotron and her name and story were announced in-stadium. She was on the field for the coin toss with the two captains and referees to kick-off Saturday’s match, and received two Toronto FC jerseys and tickets to an upcoming Toronto FC game.

As part of the bank's presenting sponsorship agreement with the team, BMO Financial Group and the Toronto FC have joined forces to recognize a BMO Community Hero of the Game before every Toronto FC home game this year. The program recognizes individuals who generously donate their time and talents to help our communities thrive. Nomination forms are available at torontofc.ca.
