Annual Real North photo contest launched

Today, Northern Credit Union officially launches the 6th Annual Real North Calendar Photo Contest. The contest showcases the life, culture, and landscape of communities along the Canadian Shield that Northern Credit Union serves from Arnprior to Thunder Bay.

Over the years, the Real North Calendar Photo Contest has become a much anticipated annual event. In fact, thanks to the website, which allows photographers to submit their photos online, Northern Credit Union now receives thousands of submissions each year. This is good news to President and CEO Al Suraci who remarked that “Northern Credit Union is really a different kind of financial institution and we’ve created an annual event that weaves the northern difference into the fabric of the communities we serve.”

For this year’s contest, Northern Credit Union will be giving away Canon digital cameras including the grand prize of a Canon Rebel SXi for the winner of the ‘Voter’s Choice.’ There will also be an ‘Early-Bird’ prize of a Canon PowerShot A590, drawn randomly from submissions entered before August 11, 2008 and another Canon PowerShot A590 will be randomly drawn from those who vote on their favourite photo.

This contest is open to all residents living in our communities, it is not necessary to be a member of Northern Credit Union to participate. All entries must be received by email before 5:00 p.m. on September 15, 2008 and are to be submitted to www.realnorthcalendar.com or by following the link from www.northerncu.com. All levels of photography are welcome. If you would like to vote on your favourite photograph, you can do so by visiting the website as well.
