Students invited to develop skills at summer camp

Skills Canada – Ontario in partnership with Canadore College of Applied Arts and Technology will be hosting “Skills Work!®” Camp, a summer day camp for students entering grades 7 & 8.

Students will explore careers in skilled trades & technologies through interactive games, industry tours, & hands-on workshops hosted by local skilled trades professionals. Examples of past workshops have highlighted the following sectors: Transportation, Construction, Manufacturing, Communication and Service. Participants have changed tires, laid bricks, prepared delicious meals, experienced radio programming, learned the basics of electrical wiring, assembled mosaic ceramic tiles and have fabricated a variety of wooden items. Skills Canada – Ontario, a not-for-profit organization, will be offering twenty camps at local community colleges across the province this summer.

Registration is available online at www.skillsontario.com. Cost is $150/participant for the week.
