The City of North Bay is offering a free program for one day called Swim to Survive from Lifesaving Society. Swim to Survive tests just the essentials needed to survive an unexpected fall into deep water- an important first step to being safe around water. Swimming is the second most popular activity for children between the ages of five and twelve and these are important skills for them to learn. It is Important to know that Swim to Survive does not replace swim lessons.

The Swim to Survive program is going to be held on June 28 at the Birchaven Cove beach between 1:00 and 5:00 for children between the ages of 6 and 14. Swim to Survive will teach them how to roll into the water, tread water for one minute and then swim 50 meters. At the end they will receive a certificate saying that they completed the Swim to Survive program.
