OPP investigating a fatal collision

On the 14th of June 2008 at approximately 4:00 am, two pedestrians were struck while walking along Highway 571 just outside the town of Earlton, Ontario. A 15 year old boy is deceased as a result of the collision and a 16 year old girl suffered serious but non life threatening injuries.

The 35 year old female subject who was driving the motor vehicle was not injured.

The names of the involved parties are not being disclosed at this time, pending next of kin notifications.

The incident is being investigated by members of the Englehart OPP detachment and are being assisted by specialized OPP units . These include: Ontario Provincial Police Technical Traffic Collision Investigators, the Identification Unit, and the Temiskaming OPP Crime unit. Ambulance and Fire Department also attended the scene and assisted.

The incident is under investigation and criminal charges are pending.
