It is a parent’s worst nightmare learning that their child is sick and for 13-year-old Sydney Stark’s parents it has been a living hell since the end of May when doctors diagnosed the young girl with a possible brain tumour.

Since then Stark has been at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and has undergone 3 gruelling surgeries in past two weeks, as doctors tried to remove a portion of the tumour for closer investigation. Sydney is now awaiting the results of the test and is getting ready for what will be a long recovery.

Sean Lawlor, close family friend and spokesperson, says the family knows Sydney is going to tough out the recovery and be back on her feet again, but that this process will take at great deal of time and patience.

“Sydney’s mom and grandmother have been by her side the entire time to support her and provide the love and attention that she needs right now,” he notes.

“Her Dad and other friends and relatives have also been down to see her to lend support and provide any help they can.”

“Several friends are now helping out by trying to raise some funds to assist Sydney and her family with this difficult time. Sydney is expected to be in Toronto for several months of therapy, prior to being able to return home,” he adds.

At trust fund has been set up at the Scotiabank account number 707220434825, and Lawlor says donations can be made at any branch.

“We have also set up a web site at www.sydneystark.com, whereby donations can be made using PayPal. We will also be providing updates to friends and family through this web site.”

“Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated,” states Lawlor.
