North Bay OPP have charged two males from Ottawa, Ontario with Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose on Wednesday, June 11th, 2008, as a result of a traffic stop on Highway 17, west of North Bay in Commanda Township, Ontario.

OPP officers and Anishinabek Police Service officer were conducting RIDE on Highway 17, west of North Bay in Commanda Township, Ontario shortly before midnight on Wednesday, June 11th, 2008. Investigation led to the seizure of another substantial quantity of cannabis (1157 grams or 3.5 lbs) with a street value of approximately $31,540 and also seized a large sum of money.

Charged are Thanh Binh NGUYEN, 23 years old; and Benjamin PERSHAW, 22 years old, both of Ottawa, Ontario, each with:
• Possession for the Purpose Schedule II under 3 kg contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA), s. 5(2),
• Trafficking Schedule II - Cannabis Marihuana under 3 kilograms contrary to the CDSA, s. 5(1)(i); and
• Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - under 30 grams contrary to the CDSA, s.4(1)

Both NGUYEN and PERSHAW were held for a bail appearance on Thursday, June 12th, 2008 at the North Bay Court on Plouffe Street.
