Two Sudbury males busted for dope

North Bay OPP have charged two males from Sudbury area with Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose on Tuesday, June 10th, 2008, as a result of a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Commanda Township, Ontario.

An Anishinabek Police Service officer and an OPP officer were conducting R.I.D.E. on Highway 17 in Commanda Township at approximately 11:30 pm when their investigative skills lead them to a large quantity of cannabis (9988.5 grams or 22 lbs) with a street value of over $100,000.

Derek K. SAVOIE, 19 years old, of Chelmsford, Ontario is charged with:
• Possession for the Purpose Schedule II over 3 kg contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA), s. 5(2) and
• Trafficking Schedule II - Cannabis Marihuana over 3 kilograms contrary to the CDSA, s. 5(1)(i).

David E. THIBERT, 21 years old, of Sudbury, Ontario is charged with:
• Possession for the Purpose Schedule II over 3 kg contrary to the CDSA, s. 5(2);
• Trafficking Schedule II - Cannabis Marihuana over 3 kilograms contrary to the CDSA, s. 5(1)(i); and
• Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana - under 30 grams contrary to the CDSA, s.4(1)

Both were held for bail appearance on Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 at the North Bay Court on Plouffe Street.
