Stewardship gang leads the charge on fighting litter

Wednesday night proved to be a busy one for the Greater Nipissing Stewardship Council as they pitched in and helped North Bay Blooms.

Over the weekend the stewardship gang did some tree planting followed by a followed by heading up North Bay Blooms first community clean up night.

To start things off the group got a quick lesson in safe disposal of drug paraphernalia from Dennis Chippa of the AIDS Committee of North Bay Area.
City Councillor Judy Koziol joined Stewardship Chair John Thornton and GNSC co-ordinator Gail Laird and stewardship members where they collected about twenty bags of litter and debris.

The volunteers encountered everything from iron frames, steel posts, plastic bags, cellophane packaging and a broken chair.

Organisers thank Jamie Houston and the city staff for ensuring that the bags were picked up for disposal.

Wednesday clean up this Monday, June 9th will see the gang at RBC Royal Bank Stockdale Branch will scour the Algonquin and Airport Road area for loose change and more.
