Two Chippewa students ranked among Canada's most promising students in a recent University of Toronto National Biology competition. This year, Jacob Porter and George Wang scored at the 97th and 92nd percentile, meaning that their results were in the top 10% of all participants. Senior biology teacher Mark Bridge was excited to receive the results stating "I'm very proud of them as the competition for the top spots is pretty intense. Jacob also received a special Certificate of Excellence as a National Biology Scholar."

Both young men have big plans for their future and are eager to attend university this fall. Jacob, also ranked number one in Ontario for nordic skiing, has been offered both athletic and academic scholarships from Lakehead university. George has also received an entrance scholarship and plans to attend Queen's university for an Honours Science degree. Chippewa will recognize the special achievements of students at its annual "Recognizing Raiders" awards ceremony to be held Tuesday, June 3 at 1:00 p.m..

Each year more than 6000 students compete in this event designed to rank achievement in Grade 12 Biology.
