Hearst - Officers of the Hearst OPP Detachment have resumed the search for Patricia Hope following a motor vehicle collision which occurred on Highway 11, in McMillan Township, at the Nagagami River Bridge, approximately 60kms west of the Town of Hearst.

The collision occurred on Sunday, the 23rd of December 2007 when a tractor trailer driver lost control of his vehicle, avoiding a second motor vehicle and breaching the guard rails of the Nagagami River Bridge. The tractor truck broke off the trailer, plummeting approximately 40 feet off the bridge into a ravine. A passenger of the transport truck, 36 year old, Patricia HOPE (DOB 17 March 1971) from Bigger, Saskatchewan remains missing after being ejected from the truck.

Since the date of the collision, Officers of the Hearst OPP Detachment have made regular and numerous checks of the collision site in hopes of locating the missing lady. A full ground and air search by the OPP resumed on Friday, the 23rd of May 2008.

Assisting in the search are the OPP Helicopter Unit from Sudbury , the Northeast Region Emergency response Team, the Northeast Region Canine Unit, the Hearst Marine Unit as well as the Orillia Underwater Search and Recovery Unit . Officers remained at the scene until Thursday, the 29th of May 2008 conducting an under water search with sonar devices in an attempt to locate Patricia Hope.

At this time Patricia Hope has not been found. A search of the area by officers continues regularly. A further air search will be conducted later into the summer months.
