Nipissing student gets crowned

Cassandre Boland entered the “Miss North Ontario Regional Canada 2008” in Sudbury this past weekend, not knowing what to expect. She left being crowned the overall winner.

“When I won, I was shocked, ecstatic and proud” said the 19-year-old Nipissing University student. Boland represented East Ferris at the competition held in Sudbury this past weekend. She now has the option of represent Northern Ontario at the Miss World Canada in Toronto later this summer.

“Being Miss North Ontario means that I have the honour of representing the residents of northern Ontario at a provincial and national level. It also gives me the privilege of being a role model for many young girls across our region and the opportunity to visit various northern communities and attend various functions and events.”

Boland shared the stage with 25 other women from across the North and won also named Miss “Public Speaking”.
